Our Story

Past

Audio Visual People (AVP) was once known as Big Screen Rentals, founded in 1997 by Peter and Sandra Clapperton. Due to the growth in demand for audio and visual equipment, Big Screen Rentals expanded and rebranded to AVP in 2005. Throughout the years, AVP has been able to assist many different events throughout the country such are Ironman, Horse of the Year, Golden Gloves National Boxing, Rhythm and Vines, Bay Dreams, Dancing for Life Education Taupo and Whakatane, 10CC Tour, Kawerau Christmas, Taupo Winter Festival, and much more. Unlike most companies, AVP has been able to provide a full service for any event. This includes, broadcast, audio, video, lighting, staging, LED, and production management.

Present

With events resuming to the new normal following the pandemic that wreaked havoc in the event industry, AVP has continued to build on its core skills. Through training new staff and the purchase of new equipment, AVP is ready to face any event thrown their way. AVP has also taken this time to focus on the maintenance of its equipment to get them ready for a busy year ahead. With AVP's current focus on creating and maintaining its relationships with clients, AVP prides itself on providing a high quality production experience that engulfs users in the atmosphere.

Future

With the newly built OB Trailer, it has opened up many new opportunities for AVP. While exploring the many opportunties available to AVP, AVP aims to continue to provide consistent quality of audio visual services at all times. With an amazing event line up for the coming years and endless opportunities, AVP is excited to continue its operations throughout the whole of New Zealand for many years to come.
