Our Story
Past
Originally founded as Big Screen Rentals in 1997 by Peter and Sandra Clapperton, AVP has grown from a small screen rental service into a nationwide leader in event production. In response to the growing demand for comprehensive audio and visual solutions, the company rebranded as Audio Visual People (AVP) in 2005.
Over the years, AVP has proudly supported a wide range of iconic events across New Zealand, including Ironman, Horse of the Year, Golden Gloves National Boxing, Rhythm and Vines, Bay Dreams, Dancing for Life Education (Taupō and Whakatāne), the 10cc Tour, Kawerau Christmas, the Taupō Winter Festival, and many more.
What sets AVP apart is its ability to deliver full-service event solutions. From broadcast, audio, video, and lighting to staging, LED displays, and production management, AVP is your one-stop partner for creating unforgettable live experiences.

Present
As the events industry adapts to a new normal following the challenges of the pandemic, AVP has continued to strengthen its core capabilities. By investing in the training of new team members and upgrading its equipment, AVP is fully equipped to deliver seamless support for any event. This period has also allowed the team to focus on maintaining and optimizing all gear, ensuring everything is event-ready for a busy year ahead.
With a renewed commitment to nurturing client relationships, AVP remains dedicated to delivering high-quality production experiences that fully immerse audiences and elevate every event.
Future
The recent addition of the JBL VTX A8 system has opened up exciting new opportunities for AVP. As the company continues to explore these possibilities, AVP remains committed to delivering consistently high-quality audio-visual services at every event. With an impressive lineup of events ahead and a growing demand nationwide, AVP is excited to expand its operations across New Zealand and looks forward to many more successful years of innovation and excellence in event production.
