Our Story

Peter Clapperton and his wife Sandra Clapperton began their business venture in 1997 where they founded Big Screen Rentals, located in Taupo. Big Screen Rentals offered its services and equipment on a smaller scale providing projectors, LED screens, audio and lighting.

In 2005, Peter and Sandra rebranded the business to be called Audio Visual People and has continued to operate in Taupo. AVP assists clients all over New Zealand as they have invested in equipment such as lighting, audio, broadcasting, LED screen, and having a recording studio available to meet the demand from its ever expanding cliental.

In 2020, the event industry took a stand still due to the covid pandemic, so Audio Visual People decided to test their abilities in event management and organised a virtual event called Taupo Music Series. The series expanded over 2 months, with a livestreamed concert followed by a web series.

Since the beginning of 2021, AVP has invested time and money into converting one of their workshops into a new studio to cater to the growing demand of virtual AGM's, awards evenings, or even virtual events. The studio, with a green screen wall opens up a world of possibilities for online events or film productions.

The amount of effort and time that Peter has put into his growing business truly shows in the large database of cliental that he has accumulated over the last 24 years. His dedication has resulted in AVP being involved in some of the well known events around New Zealand.

Audio Visual People has been involved in a range of sporting events such as Ironman, Land Rover Horse of the Year, Crankworx, Cycle Challenge, Gymnastics National Championships, Golden Gloves, National Boxing, Taranaki ITU, and Age Group Road Nationals. Some concerts and festivals include Summer Concert, Rhythm and Vines, Sounds Splash, Le Currents, and Bay Dreams. Some other large scale events that AVP has been involved in are Dancing for Life Education Taupo and Whakatane,  Kawerau Christmas in the Park, the World Indigenous Concert, Opera in the Park in Wanganui, 10CC Tour, Glen Miller Tour, and more.
